Village SOS

I hope you enjoyed the Myddfai episode of Village SOS and

are inspired to think about your own community project. I

am keen to encourage enquiries from Kent to the Village SOS

website, because if enough people show an interest we may

be able to host a road show event locally. It depends on

demand, so register your interest on VillageSOS.org.uk

Village SOS

It all started back in August 2009.  A small advert in the Sunday Times caught my eye.

“Best Job in the UK”. It claimed.

I read on:

“• set up a social enterprise in a rural village
• create a sustainable business in a year
• funded by the BIG Lottery
• be part of a major BBC1 series”

Now the television programme is ready and you can see the incredible story on BBC 1, August 31st at 8pm.

Village SOS

The project started in May 2010 and within twelve months we had achieved the impossible: an award winning social enterprise selling an extensive range of our own Myddfai branded products to both trade and retail customers, a state-of-the-art Community Hall and Visitor Centre featuring a cafe and shop, and a professional community website and online shop. Look at the video clip to see the starting point and you will be amazed! Ty Talcen is the name of the community charity in Myddfai which applied to the Lottery for funds to deliver its vision.

Hello world!

Welcome to the new Knowledge Hive site. I decided to change the website from a basic and static one to a site I can easily update and use to share knowledge, ideas and interesting links and features. Please share your favourite links and useful information with the Hive so that it becomes a really useful resource.

I’m trying to link in as many social media channels as seem useful – which takes me outside my natural comfort zone of face to face engagement! Any comments or advice would be very welcome.
